Dragons' Fight
When dragons fight amongst themselves
and quarrel like children over nothing
the skies boil with laughter, shouting
and the earth trembles with mirth
But when dragons stand eye to eye
talons curled against their brother
ready to combat one another over nothing
ready to die for what they believe is something
My soul curls up inside my small body
because I know within each is a spark
which will soon no longer be living
no longer interested in finding the path
that leads to the dragon's spirit inside
which has ever been, and will ever be...
Love, respect and honour...for all
Challenge
Surging anger beckons with hot claws
As roars ring out in challenge
Talons rip and shred in bloody guise
Fangs bite upon offending wings
And still the battle rages in fury
Cool water in the form of a tear falls
Wiping out the anger in a moment
As another life is cut abruptly short
A whisper of a prayer
For the vanquished one's soul
Then a sudden shaft of pain, exploding
A new foe stands in the other's place
And the hot pulse of the battle resumes
In the aftermath
In the silence that follows
When one has time to reflect upon the destruction
What horrors visit them there
Hiding in nightmares
Forever seared upon their souls
A stain not upon their honour
But upon their very being
